MONEY/CURRANCY

The currency of Peru is the Nuevo Sol ( PEN ). Bills are 10, 20, 50 , 100, 200 ( the 200 are rare ) The coins are called centimos (10 céntimos , 20 céntimos , 50 céntimos). Also, there are 1 nuevo sol , 2 nuevo soles y 5 nuevos soles. There is a currency of 0.05 centimos which is underused.

Recomendaciones
  • - Always carry and ask for coins and small bills . Local and small businesses rarely have change for 100 bills and 200 soles.

  • - Change your money at foreign-exchange bureaus (casas de cambio) and not in the street .

  • - In malls, hotels and restaurants at the big towns, credit card is accepted with a commission of 7% more.

  • - To use your debit card at ATMs in Peru , you should inform your bank before traveling, because , most of the time the option is not actived for international use.

Peru has a variety of climates, due to the Andes and the Humboldt Current . We can find tropical climates in the jungle ; temperate and dry climates in the south, in the mountains ; desert climate in the north, along the coast.

From December to March (Summer Season)
